China has witnessed a significant decline in marriage rates as 3.43 million couples tied the knot in the first half of this year, a 12.7 percent drop from the previous year, setting a record low, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
The trend, attributed to various factors including economic pressures and changing societal norms, reflects a broader shift in marriage patterns across the country, experts said, calling for more conditions to be created and more support provided for young people to get married. Additionally, efforts should be made to expand and enrich dating services and platforms for young people, create a more relaxed work environment for young people.
婚姻，不只是人生大事，也是国之大事。日前，民政部发布统计数据显示，今年上半年，全国结婚登记 343 万对，仅为 2014 年同期的一半左右，创下近十年新低。结婚人数走低的背后，是适婚年轻人口减少、初婚年龄推迟、结婚意愿下降、婚育成本压力共同作用的结果。
