With generative artificial intelligence tools — such as ChatGPT — being widely embraced in foreign language education and translation tasks, the rapid development of such tools has also presented some challenges, reshaping the sectors.
Yang Chao, a freelance French translator for 13 years, said she occasionally uses AI tools like Kimi for translation tasks and is currently in the early stages of exploring their potential. While AI tools can enhance translation quality, Yang said their performance depends greatly on the clarity of the instructions provided. "Clear and detailed instructions can generate unexpectedly good results," she said.
近年来，多所高校的外语专业宣布不再招收研究生，也有外语本科专业被叫停。有分析认为，随着人工智能技术快速发展，社会对语言工作者的需求下降，尤其是外语专业和翻译工作受到直接冲击。今年，MTPE（机器翻译后人工审校）的需求大幅提升，翻译公司在给报价的时候会打折扣。作为一名资深翻译，杨超还是感到新技术带来的危机。
