Recently, more and more Chinese tourists are flocking to Japan to buy a wide variety of goods from digital camera,cosmetic products,rice cookers to...are you kidding me?...bidet-toilet seats!
Akihabara has been regarded as the electric town in Japan for being a major shopping center for household electrical products. It has seen a surge in the number of foreign tourists now, especially those from China who travel there for shopping. "You have to rush to buy those toilet seats, regardless of the brand, because there will be nothing left on the shelf by afternoon." said Li Wei, an employee of a duty-free stores in Akihabara.
However,many research shows that almost all of those smark toilet seats are actually manufactured in China ! "China manufactures about 1 to 2 million smart toilet seats every year and exports most of them to Japan. Domestic sales amount to less than 300,000" said Ma, the director of RYOJI Business News.
