Domestic violence has long been regarded as a private matter in China, as demonstrated by the old maxims: "Impartial judges find it difficult to resolve domestic disputes", and "Couples fall in and out in one bed".
However, China's first law targeting violence within the home has now come into force, outlining a new approach to spousal and partner abuse and challenging traditional notions about family values.'
家庭暴力在中国自古以来被认为是一种家庭私事，如“清官难断家务事”，“夫妻床头打架床尾和”。但是，最近中国第一部《反家暴法》正式出台，预示着夫妻间那些事儿乃至中国传统家庭观都将迎来全面的重新审视。
