The Chinese consulate in Chicago is asking for a thorough investigation and swift justice in the case of a Chinese scholar, Zhang Yingying, 26, who is feared dead after an apparent kidnapping.
Zhang, a graduate of Peking University, was conducting research at the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She was reported missing on June 9, when she was supposed to see a prospective landlord.
近年来，在美国发生的和华人留学生有关的案例有：纪欣然案，瞿铭、吴颖案，吕令子案，仲兴案等。实际上，美国很多地区的安全水准远低于中国。假设一个生活在北京的名校精英要到国内四线城市出差，心里应该是充满警惕的。但是来到美国的四线城市，看到几个无比友善的白人男女，就觉得人人都是活雷锋了，这种天真的想法实在要不得。
