The domestic tourism market saw stable growth in the Dragon Boat Festival holiday — a three-day break from Saturday, said the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Latest figures from the ministry show that domestic scenic spots received 110 million tourism visits over the holiday — up 6.3 percent year-on-year. The festival also had three days of break last year in mid-June.
Usually falling on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, the Dragon Boat Festival has numerous celebration events such as dragon boat races and eating sticky rice dumplings, or Zongzi in Chinese.
端午至，龙舟渡，百舸争流、千帆竞发的赛龙舟场面是岁岁端午的标志。唐代诗人张建封的《竞渡歌》中曾这样写道：“鼓声三下红旗开，两龙跃出浮水来。”击鼓加油，摇旗呐喊，端午生机勃勃的龙舟竞渡景象扑面而来。赛龙舟是端午节最重要的民俗活动之一。多地纷纷举办精彩纷呈的赛龙舟活动，人们挥桨逐浪，感受传统习俗的魅力。
