In response to a CPPCC National Committee member's proposal to prevent the feminization of male adolescents, the Ministry of Education released a notice on its website, saying it will strengthen physical education among students and equip them with more high quality PE teachers. In addition, PE teachers are advised to modify their teaching methods to cultivate students' "masculinity".
The news soon became a hot topic on Sina Weibo, and the hashtag had been viewed more than 1.46 billion times by Monday afternoon. While some netizens support this proposal, some consider it a gender stereotype, saying that masculinity is not necessarily opposed to femininity.
