Sensory processing sensitivity (SPS) is a temperamental or personality trait involving "an increased sensitivity of the central nervous system and a deeper cognitive processing of physical, social and emotional stimuli." A human with a particularly high measure of SPS is considered to have "hypersensitivity", or be a highly sensitive person (HSP).
Highly sensitive persons are equipped with rich inner lives, exquisite aesthetic understandings and incisive perception. Highly sensitive people need self-care to refuel to make best use of the unique gifts of being an HSP in the right context.
高敏感人群（Highly Sensitive Person, HSP）这一概念最早由美国心理学家伊莱恩·阿伦（Elaine Aron）提出。心理学研究指出，高敏感体质不是一种疾病或状态，而是一种比较稳定和持久的人格特征。由于中枢神经系统的敏感性较强，高敏感人群能够对物理、社会和情感刺激进行更深层次的认知加工。
